In 2001, Philippe Kessler acquired “Château Calissanne” and decided to restructure the estate, including both the vineyards and olive trees, enlarging and modernising the wine-making and maturing cellars in order to improve the quality of the wines.
These efforts required considerable work and meticulous attention to detail.
Today, his wife Sophie Kessler-Matière and his son Thomas are carrying on the work undertaken by Philippe Kessler and are continuing to develop the two vineyards: Château Calissanne in A.O.P Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence with the famous Clos Victoire and Rocher Rouge wines, and Domaine de la Clef de Saint-Thomas in A.O.C. Châteauneuf-du-Pape with its two cuvées, La Clef de St Thomas and Pierre Troupel.
Devoted to their terroir and the natural environment, they are committed to taking a particularly eco-friendly approach.
Thanks to their responsible work, Château Calissanne was awarded level 3 “Haute Valeur Environnementale” (High Environmental Value) certification for all its products at the beginning of 2019.
